We want every reader to be able to use The Green Industry Report, including people who use screen readers, a keyboard alone, magnification or voice control. Our target is Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. This statement describes a target, not a certification.
What we do
- Pages use real headings, lists and table headers so assistive technology can move through them.
- Text and link colors are chosen to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios, and links are underlined, not marked by color alone.
- Data tables with many columns reflow into labelled rows on narrow screens instead of scrolling sideways.
- Every chart is drawn from data that is also given on the page as a text table.
- Images that carry meaning have text alternatives; illustrations are labelled as illustrations.
- The layout is built to reflow to a single column on phones and at high zoom levels.
Known limitations
- Charts are visual. The text data table that goes with each chart carries the same information; if one is missing, please tell us.
- Many sources we link to are government PDFs and spreadsheets. These are third-party files we don’t control, and some are not fully accessible. Where an agency offers an HTML version, we link to it.
- Job listings are written by employers. We format them consistently but don’t write the text.
- Directory listings reproduce license types and abbreviations as state agencies publish them, which can be terse.
