Landscaping services was a $115.4 billion industry at employer firms in the 2022 Economic Census, and 952,640 people worked as landscaping and groundskeeping workers in May 2025, according to BLS. This section is where those numbers, and the state and metro detail behind them, are published.

All landscaping industry data here comes from federal statistical programs: the Census Bureau’s Economic Census, County Business Patterns and Nonemployer Statistics, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ OEWS, QCEW, CES, CPI and PPI programs. We download the agency files, parse them with scripts and do only simple arithmetic on published cells. Suppressed cells stay blank; we don’t estimate them.

These sources measure different things, so they don’t agree to the job. QCEW counted 912,821 private jobs in landscaping services in 2025, while OEWS counts landscaping workers across all industries, including golf courses and local governments. Each page says which count it uses and why. The full list of datasets and vintages is in our methodology.
