Landscaping costs depend on four things you can measure: how much material the job needs, what that material costs delivered, how many crew hours it takes, and whether a permit applies. Our cost guides price each of those separately and show the arithmetic, so you can swap in your own square footage or a local quote and see what changes.

Every range here is an estimate, and we label it that way. We don’t have a database of contractor invoices, and we don’t pass off survey averages from lead-generation sites as prices. The inputs come from published material price lists, manufacturer coverage specs, BLS wage data for the area and municipal permit fee schedules, each linked with the date we checked it. Our methodology explains the approach.

Use the guides to sanity-check a bid, not to replace one. A contractor’s quote includes overhead, margin, access and site conditions that no published input captures; if a quote sits far outside our range, the method note on each page shows which line to ask about.

Start with what a landscaping project costs overall, or go straight to a project: sod installation or a paver patio. Comparison pages set two options side by side on cost and what each one gives up.
